Mediterranean gardens
Lake Garda’s climate allows gardens with a Mediterranean character: olive trees, citrus, lavender, rosemary and ornamental grasses that need little water.
Lake Garda has the mildest climate in northern Italy: olive trees, lemon houses and Mediterranean plants thrive just a few kilometers from the Alps. We design gardens and terraces for homes and villas on every shore, from the Brescia riviera to the Verona coast and up to Riva, making the most of the light, the view over the water and the landscape of the lake.
Book a site visitThe great body of water of Lake Garda softens the climate: mild winters, bright summers and regular winds such as the Ora, which blows in the afternoon. That is why olives and lemons have been grown on its shores for centuries, and why many Mediterranean plants grow here without difficulty.
The lake is shared by three regions, Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino, and each shore has its own character: steep and terraced to the northwest, more open and hilly to the south and east. The design follows the place, with terracing where needed, views over the water and plants suited to the wind and sun.
We follow projects on Lake Garda with scheduled site visits, our presence on site at the key stages and a maintenance plan for second homes.
Roberto Landello is a garden designer with studios in Lignano Sabbiadoro and Monza. We take on garden and terrace projects on Lake Garda as well, organizing the work in stages: site visit, design, our presence on site at the key moments and a long-term maintenance plan.
Our work starts with plants. Roberto grew up in his family’s nursery in Lignano Sabbiadoro and trained at the Scuola Agraria del Parco di Monza; Luca, our technical lead, combines a background in construction with training in agronomy and arboriculture.
Lake Garda lies halfway between our two studios, and its Mediterranean climate is the one we know best from our work on the coast. In 2017 our installation “Ciclicità lunare” won the Foglia d’Oro del Lago di Como award at Orticolario, and our projects have been featured in Gardenia, Casa in Fiore and Terrazzi e balconi.

Custom planters, shade and light screening for terraces overlooking the lake, with plants that can take sun and wind.
On the steeper shores the garden rises in terraces, like the historic limonaie, the old lemon houses. Low walls and paths make every level usable.
Many houses on Lake Garda are lived in only part of the year: we design low-maintenance gardens and organize their care throughout the year.
What clients ask us most often before starting a project.
Yes, on the Brescia shore, on the Verona shore and in Trentino, around Riva del Garda and Arco.
The mild climate allows olive trees, citrus and many Mediterranean plants such as lavender, rosemary and ornamental grasses. As garden designers on Lake Garda, we choose them according to the exposure and the local winds.
With a low-maintenance garden, automatic irrigation and, if you like, our scheduled maintenance service throughout the year.
Yes. With terracing, low walls and paths we turn the slope into usable spaces, also drawing inspiration from the historic limonaie.
We organize the work in stages: site visit, design, our presence on site at the key moments and scheduled maintenance.
With a site visit: we look at the space, the views and the exposure, listen to what you need and take measurements and photos for the preliminary design.
