In Lignano Sabbiadoro we are on home ground: our family nursery began here and this is where our studio is. We design and build gardens and terraces for seaside homes in Sabbiadoro, Pineta and Riviera, with plants that cope with sand, wind and salt spray, and maintenance that keeps everything in order even while the house is closed.

Between sea
and lagoon

The setting

Lignano is a narrow peninsula between the sea, the Marano lagoon and the mouth of the Tagliamento river. The soil is sandy, the air salty, the wind constant; in summer the sun is fierce, and in winter the resort empties and gardens are left on their own for months.

These are the conditions we have always worked in. We know the plants that thrive in the pinewood and the ones that hold up on the seafront, we know how an exposed terrace changes between July and January, and how to organize garden care for owners who only arrive with the warm season.

That is why in Lignano we follow every project from start to finish: site visit, design, construction and scheduled maintenance, with our studio a few minutes from every home.

Roberto Landello is a garden designer based in Lignano Sabbiadoro. From here we design and build gardens and terraces in Lignano and along the coast, following every project in person: from the first site visit and the choice of plants to construction and maintenance.

Our work starts with plants. Roberto grew up in his family’s nursery in Lignano Sabbiadoro and trained at the Scuola Agraria del Parco di Monza; Luca, our technical lead, combines a background in construction with training in agronomy and arboriculture.

Almost all of our projects began here, among the terraces of Sabbiadoro and the gardens of the pinewood. In 2017 our installation “Ciclicità lunare” won the Foglia d’Oro del Lago di Como award at Orticolario, and our projects have been featured in Gardenia, Casa in Fiore and Terrazzi e balconi.

Every space
in Lignano

What we design

01 Sabbiadoro

Sea-view terraces

In apartments facing the sea, the terrace is the main room of the summer. Custom planters, shade and green screening make it comfortable even in the hottest hours, with container plants that tolerate salt.

03 Summer use

Villas and holiday homes

For houses lived in mostly in summer, we design gardens that need little water and little upkeep, with irrigation where it is needed and spaces for long lunches, relaxing and the pool.

02 Pineta and Riviera

Pinewood gardens

Under the pines the soil is sandy and dry and the light filters through the canopy. We choose plants for light shade that live alongside the pine roots, and lay out paths and seating areas without disturbing the trees.

04 Toward Marano

Lagoon gardens

On the lagoon side, humidity and wind change. We work with species suited to brackish soils and with green screens that give shelter without closing off the view of the water.

Services

Skills

01

Landscape Design

We design green spaces that bring continuity to daily life, creating natural settings where plants, pathways, materials, and proportions come together in a harmonious balance. The project does more than simply organize an outdoor space; it reveals its character and transforms it into a place to be enjoyed.
02

Terrace Design

We work with greenery, shade, privacy, views, and materials to create intimate and welcoming spaces, designed to bring nature even into the most urban settings and transform every outdoor area into an intimate and personal landscape.
03

Garden design

Through shapes, heights, blooms, textures, and seasonal variations, we create plant arrangements that evolve over time without losing their balance. Every botanical choice stems from the interplay of aesthetics, location, and care, so that the greenery can grow naturally, harmoniously, and sustainably.
04

Landscape Consulting

Consulting helps identify new possibilities, address issues, and make the most of what already exists, offering a clear vision of how to transform gardens and terraces into more harmonious, functional spaces that better reflect the way you want to experience them.
05

Project Management and Coordination

We oversee the work on-site by coordinating expertise, timelines, and tasks to ensure that materials, construction details, and plant elements accurately reflect the initial design concept.
06

Scheduled Maintenance

A garden continues to change even after it has been created. That is why ongoing care is an integral part of the project: it supports the growth of the plants, maintains the balance of the space, and allows the garden or terrace to retain its quality, form, and vitality season after season.

Frequently asked questions

Questions

What clients ask us most often before starting a project.

Yes. For houses lived in mostly in summer we set up a scheduled maintenance plan: pruning, irrigation checks, feeding and replacements, so the garden is ready when the warm season arrives.

Plants that tolerate sandy, acidic soil, light shade and competition from pine roots. There are shrubs, ground covers and ornamental grasses that grow well in the pinewood and need little water: we choose them after seeing the light and the soil.

Yes, with plants that are truly resistant to wind and salt and a layout in bands: the toughest species facing the sea, the more delicate ones in shelter. Even on the front line you can have color and flowers.

Yes, it is a large part of our work in Lignano: sea-view terraces and penthouses with custom planters, shade, privacy and automatic irrigation.

It depends on size and complexity. For seaside homes it is best to design in fall or winter and build in spring, so the garden is ready for summer and the plants have time to take root.

With a site visit. Our garden design studio is right here in Lignano, so we can see the space at short notice, listen to what you need and take measurements and photos for the preliminary design.
